The room in detail

Gravity Boulder Bar is located in the Mammut Mall, a stone's throw from the Széll Kálmán tér hub, one of Buda's transport hubs. The total climbing area is 517 m² within a total space of approximately 700 m², with an interior ceiling height of 6.9 m. Designed by architects and climbers, the gym offers six difficulty levels, regularly updated boulder problems, a training area, a campus board, and a practice wall.

The walls are a maximum of 4.5 meters high. There is no safety equipment—falls are cushioned by a continuous 40 cm thick special foam mat beneath the walls. Instructors are available weekdays from 3 pm to 9 pm and weekends from 11 am to 7 pm for beginners.

The venue regularly hosts national competitions — notably hosting the 2025 Hungarian Bouldering Championship. The community is active, and the sopos are written in Hungarian and English.

What we like: The rooftop terrace after a session. The sauna. And the location — stepping out of the gym and immediately being in the city.

What you need to know: It gets very crowded on weekends. Come during the week if possible, or early Saturday morning.

Things to do around

The Szechenyi bath — Budapest's largest thermal complex, 20 minutes away by metro. Spectacular neo-Baroque architecture, outdoor pools heated to 36°C. Essential after a session. Allow at least 2 hours.

District VII — the ruins bars — Szimpla Kert is the most legendary, but the neighborhood has about ten of them. Interior courtyards converted into multi-story bars, vintage furniture. The Budapest vibe in its most authentic form.

The Great Hall (Nagy Vásárcsarnok) — Huge covered market hall on the banks of the Danube, built in 1897. Cured meats, paprika, honey, rye bread. Go up to the 1st floor for local crafts.

The Chain Bridge and Buda Castle — Walk across, along the castle district in the evening light. Free, a must-see.

Logistics

  • Language : Hungarian is difficult, but English works everywhere in tourist areas and at the venue.

The room in detail

Murall Krakowska is Warsaw's largest bouldering gym—state-of-the-art equipment covering over 2,000 square meters. The layout is designed for variety: 11-meter-long and 6-meter-high caves with contoured mats, 20-meter ropes for speed climbing, and a huge campus area. Nine difficulty levels, a Moonboard, a spray wall, grip boards, and a ninja track complete the offering.

The second Murall location (Annopol 3) offers roped climbing routes up to 8a — 150 routes from 4a to 8a. Both gyms are managed by the same team. A single pass grants access to both locations, allowing you to combine a day of bouldering (Krakowska) and a day of sport climbing (Annopol) during the same trip.

The facility organizes classes for children and adults, summer and winter camps, and regular competitions. The rooftop bar with a view of the climbing structures is one of the facility's pleasant surprises.

What we like: The scale. The caves are among the best in the region — physical challenges, challenging overhangs. Regular replenishment of the boulders. And the possibility of combining it with Annopol for a full day.

What you need to know: Murall welcomes families as much as performers — there's a dedicated children's area. Not intimidating for intermediate levels.

Things to do around

The Praga district — The former working-class area east of the Vistula. Preserved pre-war buildings (unlike the rest of Warsaw, razed in 1944), graffiti-covered walls, local bars not yet gentrified. Authentic Warsaw, 15 minutes from the venue.

The banks of the Vistula — In spring, the riverbanks become a space for relaxation. Temporary cafes, concerts, bicycles. View of the skyline from the east bank.

The Warsaw Uprising Museum — Essential for understanding the history of the city. Moving, very well done.

The Old Town — Completely rebuilt after 1944 and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Despite (or thanks to) this reconstruction, it remains one of the most pleasant historic centers in Central Europe.

Logistics

03 — On Sight Climbing Center, Varsovie, Pologne

The room in detail

On Sight is Warsaw's premier climbing gym. It offers a wide selection of top-rope and guided routes, from beginner to advanced levels. What sets On Sight apart is its staff—very welcoming, English-speaking, and always available to explain the basics or guide a technical section. It's here that climbers who will later venture onto the cliffs of the Polish Jura or the Tatra Mountains come to train.

The gym is compact yet dense—every square meter is used. There's no large basement or spectacular superstructure like at Murall: here, the focus is on technique, route reading, and consistency. The routes cover all grades from 4 to 7c+.

The local community is close-knit and speaks English. It's a room where people stay to chat after their sessions — always a good sign.

What we like: The atmosphere is serious yet relaxed during training. The English-speaking staff takes the time to explain things. And you can combine it with Murall for a day of bouldering in the morning and climbing routes in the afternoon.

What you need to know: Small room — can get crowded late in the day on weekdays. Go in the morning or early afternoon.

Things to do around

Same neighborhood as Murall Krakowska — see addresses above. The combination of On Sight (routes in the morning) + Murall Krakowska (bouldering in the afternoon) is the perfect plan for a day of climbing in Warsaw.

The room in detail

K2 Climbing Wall Bratislava, with 1,500 m² of climbing routes and a height of 15.5 meters, is the largest and tallest climbing gym in Slovakia. The gym features an 8-meter overhanging wall for experienced climbers, accessible routes for beginners, a resin rock imitation, and a wavy wall. For bouldering, there are 200 m² of colored boulder problems. A 15-meter speed wall with IFSC parameters is also available.

The total area is 2,000 m², including 104 m² of dry-tooling and 95 m² of outdoor wall. It's a gym that caters to all types of indoor climbing — one of the most comprehensive in the region.

The gym regularly hosts national and dry-tooling competitions. Bratislava climbers are good and many speak fluent English — it's an active university town with a strong climbing scene.

What we like: The diversity of climbing styles all in one place. The 15.5m of routes — rare in Eastern Europe. And the outdoor wall in spring.

What you need to know: The venue is slightly out of the way. Allow 20 minutes for transport from the historic center.

Things to do around

Bratislava Castle — White, square, visible from everywhere. The interior houses the Slovak National Museum. Unobstructed view of the Danube and Austria opposite from the forecourt.

The Old Town on foot — Compact and pleasant, without the tourist density of Prague. Main square (Hlavné námestie), medieval fountains, narrow streets. Terraces overlooking the Danube in the evening.

The UFO Bridge (SNP Bridge) — The most photogenic bridge in Bratislava. Panoramic restaurant at 95 m. View of the Austrian bank at sunset.

Vienna train excursion — Bratislava is a 1-hour train ride from Vienna. The Bratislava + Vienna combo for a weekend is one of the most efficient travel combinations in Central Europe.

05 — Climbing Center Ljubljana, Slovenia

Ljubljana is arguably the most pleasant city in Central Europe — and Plezalni Center Ljubljana, the largest climbing gym in Slovenia, is exactly what you'd expect: a 17-meter wall, Kilter Board, bouldering area, and a rooftop bar. And the cliffs of Osp are less than an hour away.

The room in detail

Plezalni Center Ljubljana has been open since December 2013. It is the largest facility in Slovenia entirely dedicated to sport climbing, with 1,580 m² of climbing surfaces. The main wall reaches a height of 17 meters with over 160 routes of all levels—top-roping, driving, and autobelay. On the first floor, there is a smaller 11-meter climbing gym, a training area, and a children's climbing wall. A separate bouldering area offers a wide variety of problems and grades, and there is a brand-new Kilter Board for interactive training.

After the session, the bar is a real social hub — good selection of local beers and coffees, outdoor terrace, free Wi-Fi. Live music is sometimes held there in the evenings.

Slovenia is a country of climbers. Janja Garnbret, Adam Ondra (from the Czech Republic), and dozens of other world-class climbers grew up on the limestone cliffs of the Karst region. Talking about climbing with the locals at this gym is talking to people who have been climbing in Osp since they were teenagers.

What we like: The value for money — 10 EUR for 1,580 m² of quality climbing. The bar. And the ease of continuing on to the natural cliffs the next day.

What you need to know: Combining indoor climbing with natural crag climbing is the ideal scenario. Misja Peč (45 minutes by car) and Osp (1 hour) are among the best limestone crags in Europe. Osp saw some of the world's first 9a ascents. If you're there for several days, this combination is essential.

Things to do around

Cycling on the Ljubljanica riverbanks — Ljubljana's city center has banned cars. The riverbanks are reserved for pedestrians and cyclists. Outdoor cafes, medieval bridges. The most beautiful urban stroll on the list.

The Ljubljana Fortress — Accessible on foot or by funicular. Panoramic views of the city and the Julian Alps in the background on a clear day. The golden hour from up there is one of the most beautiful views in Central Europe.

The Central Market — On the banks of the Ljubljanica, in the morning from 7am to 1pm. Local cheeses, honey, breads. The market halls were designed by the architect Jože Plečnik in the 1940s — European architectural heritage.

Misja Peč ou Osp — Less than an hour from Ljubljana. These limestone cliffs in the Slovenian Karst are among the best in Europe. If you're there for several days, combining indoor climbing with outdoor climbing is the perfect scenario.

Logistics

Recommended equipment for a weekend of climbing in the city

The base

  • Climbing shoes · harness + quickdraws if you're doing routes · chalk ball (no loose powder in most gyms)
  • Backpack 20–25L light for the weekend
  • Technical trousers that fit flat against the stomach: essential for bouldering — trousers that move with you without tearing at the crotch. Not jeans.

What makes the difference on weekend climbs

  • Trousers that go from the gym to the restaurant and the bar in the evening without changing outfits — Eastern Europe goes out at night, and so do climbers
  • A light layer for cool mornings
  • Shoes that can walk 10 km in a city and fit in your bag without weighing you down.

LFW Tip: The perfect trousers for this kind of weekend are the ones you forget you're wearing. Lightweight, technical, and presentable. Our ASCENT range was designed for exactly this type of travel: from the gym to the streets of Warsaw, without having to change your outfit.
